Gary Hedden's application can be found under agenda item I.4 using the link above. The Citizens Advisory Committee for Finance is charged with the oversight of LASD use of the parcel tax revenues. Beyond their legal charge, the committee also reviews the budget and researches ways to ensure the District keeps fiscally sound in the present and future. The Board is asked to approve the 2018-19 District Calendar. This is an action item. The proposed calendar is located under agenda item I.5 using the link above. As stated before, the calendar is usually made to match the MVLA (high school district) calendar as much as possible. It is important to note the proposed calendar starts classes a week later than the 2017/2018 school year and begins the December holiday break a week later. The Board is also asked to approve a resolution calling for Full and Fair Funding of California Public Schools directing the State Legislature to fund California public schools at the national average or higher by the year 2020, and at a level that is equal to or above the average of the top 10 states nationally by 2025. This is an action item. The full text of the resolution can be found under agenda item I.6. It is important to note, that California is the 6th largest economy in the world and has the largest Gross Domestic Product of any state of our nation, yet ranks 45th in the nation for percentage of taxable income spent on education. Please note, this is just the highlights of what is on the agenda for 2/12/2018 meeting. You can inform yourself about the rest of the agenda at the link provided above.
