This week, closed session begins at 6:30pm. The board will reconvene for open session starting around 7pm in the LASD Board Room at 201 Covington Rd. The entire agenda can be found here.
Please note the Jeff Baier and Sandra McGonagle will not be present at this board meeting. They are in Nashville at a conference regarding Driving the Transformation of Learning. It is a relatively light agenda this week. The first item on the Agenda will be "sunshining" LASD's and the LATA's (Los Altos Teachers Association) Negotiating Interests. Each year, both parties bring to light their interests and what sections of the bargaining agreement they would like to renegotiate. These interests can be found under agenda item H.1 using the link above. This is an action item. The Board is asked to approve these interest for negotiation. LASD's interests include: (1) attracting and retaining high quality teachers (2) ensuring all unit members have appropriate standards and evaluative instruments matching their current position, and (3) developing a language to allow all schools to establish a weekly allotment of collaboration time. LATA's interests include: (1) competitive compensation, (2) work year and work day definition, and (3) more collaboration time. The next item is sunshining LASD's Negotiating Interests as it relates to the CSEA (the staff union). This an action item and can be found under agenda item H.2. LASD's interests include compensation and benefits. The Board is asked to approve these interests. The last thing on the agenda is Sharing Parcel Tax Proceeds with Bullis Charter School. Exhibit B of the 2016 Measure GG Parcel Tax states that "BCS shall annually provide a written report accounting for its expenditure of parcel tax proceeds." BCS has provided a report showing its expenditure of proceeds in 2017-18 on teacher salaries. This is an action item and the report can be found under action item H.3. The Board is asked to determine whether BCS expended its share of the tax proceeds as required by Measure GG. Please note, this is just the highlights of what is on the agenda for the 10/22/2018 meeting. You can inform yourself about the rest of the agenda at the link provided above. As always, feel free to email me with any questions. This week, closed session begins at 6:00pm. We will start the evening getting an Instructional Support Teacher Update from Sandra McGonagle. This is a discussion item and there will be no action taken. Her presentation can be found under agenda item H.1 using the link above. Instructional Support Teachers have been an asset to the district for a couple years now offering our teachers in-house professional development in the classroom ensuring that not only our children are reaching their full potential, but our teachers are too. Next up, representatives from BCS will be presenting their future plans to the Board. This is a discussion item and no action will be taken. I look forward to hearing their plans and hope we can find areas of common interest and cooperation. But wait, there is more. We will be continuing our discussion about the 10th Site. This is an action item and a decision may be made as to our plans regarding the purchasing of a 10th Site. In our last meeting we were given a thorough presentation by Jeff Baier and Randy Kenyon, which you can find on the 9/24/18 agenda. Jeff and Randy will supplement the last presentation with new information. As always, we will be accepting public comment and very much welcome it. We have a hard decision ahead of us and welcome your insights. Please note, this is just the highlights of what is on the agenda for the 10/8/2018 meeting. You can inform yourself about the rest of the agenda at the link provided above. As always, feel free to email me with any questions. |
