The Monday, April 4, 2022, LASD Board meeting will start its open session at 7:00pm and beginning this meeting and going forward, public comments may only be made in person in the LASD Board Room. If you plan to participate in person, wearing a mask is strongly recommended in accordance with SCCPHD and CDPH guidelines. We will continue to use the Zoom webinar platform for community members to follow our meetings at home, but public comment will not be allowed on it. If you cannot attend in person, and have a comment that you would like the LASD Board to consider in its decision making, please email all of us at [email protected] by 5pm on Saturday, 4/2/22. First up on the agenda, Randy Kenyon will give the Board an update on the 3-Year Deferred Maintenance Plan. This is a discussion item and there is no presentation attached under agenda item H.1 as of yet. The plan was presented to us at our last board meeting and included a presentation by Randy and the district's architect, Lisa Gelfand, on a 3-year plan for maintenance and/or replacement of HVAC systems, lights, and roofs across the district with a price tag of over $40,000,000. I expect an update based on board comment from the last meeting. Next, Randy will present an update on the Universal Meals Program. This is a discussion item and his presentation can be found under agenda item H.2. At the last board meeting, Randy informed the Board that the cost to purchase lunches from the neighboring Mountain View Whisman School District had gone up based on that district's realization of increased costs to produce them. This week's presentation updates us that the District is now putting out a Request for Proposal (RFP) to find out whether there are other compliant and cheaper options for our Universal Meal Program which is an underfunded mandate put on our District by the state. Last, but not least, Randy will conduct a Public Hearing on Developer Fees and present a Resolution to Increase Developer Fees. This is an action item and the Resolution and the supporting justification document may be found under agenda item H.4. The Board is asked regularly (every 2 years) to approve an increase in these fees and the law limits how much. What is important to note, is that it is never enough. Please note, this is just the highlights of what is on the agenda for the 4/4/2022 meeting. You can inform yourself about the rest of the agenda at the link provided above. As always, feel free to email me with any questions.
