Just kidding! Now that I have gotten your attention.... LASD Board's meeting this coming week is on Tuesday 11/12/19 (as the District is closed in observance of Veteran's Day on Monday 11/11/19). The closed session begins at 6:00pm. The board will reconvene for open session starting around 7pm in the LASD Board Room. The entire agenda and supporting documentation can be found here.
First up on the agenda, the Board will receive an update of the Community Engagement Process. This is a discussion item and the presentation can be found under agenda item H.1 using the link above. There were two workshops so far where participants showed levels of support for over 50 facilities solutions. The first workshop on 11/2 had over 200 participants, while the second on 11/4 had over 400 participants! Due to record turnout at second workshop, we are holding a third and final workshop to accommodate our community. Attendance is limited to 400 people. The format is the same for all workshops, so there is no need to participate in more than one. Please give others the opportunity to attend on November 18th if you have already had the chance to participate in a workshop. Participants and community members are asked not to distribute materials related to the facilities discussion at the workshop. As always, you can find out more about the process here, including materials translated into Spanish, Mandarin and Japanese. Next, Sandra McGonagle will discuss Student Data Protocol with the Board and how teachers are using student data (through common assessments) to collaborate and determine best practices for teaching all ranges of students across the District. This is a discussion item and her presentation can be found under agenda item H.2. I look forward to Sandra's presentation and hearing all about the hard work our teachers are doing behind the scenes to ensure our kids educational needs are met. Lastly, Randy Kenyon asks the Board to approve Appointments to the Facilities Master Plan Committee. This is an action item and the applicant pool and their applications can be found under agenda item H.3. The Facilities Master Plan Committee is tasked with reviewing and advising the Board on the completion of the Facility Master Plan and implementation of Measure N projects. Duties of the committee may include:
Please note, this is just the highlights of what is on the agenda for the 11/12/2019 meeting. You can inform yourself about the rest of the agenda at the link provided above. As always, feel free to email me with any questions. Comments are closed.
