Mr. Baier will also present a contract with Thoughtexchange for the board's approval. This is an action item. His presentation can be found under agenda item I.12. The district is hoping to use Thoughtexchange to help us get input from our diverse community on not only the 10th Site, but also ensuring our district serves up an equitable education to all students we educate. Lastly, Mr. Baier will be presenting a Resolution Demanding Federal Gun Control Action to Prevent Death and Injury for the board's approval. This is an action item and the resolution can be found under agenda I.15. In light of Sandy Hook and the most recent tragedy in Parkland, Florida, staff is asking us to approve a resolution asking our federal government and local congressional representatives for tighter gun control laws to keep the children in our schools safer. Resolution also emphasizes that LASD supports organized student and adult ally action to amplify students’ voices and work toward creating a future where children are no longer murdered by gun violence in schools, including such activities as walkouts, sit-ins, civics training, voter registration campaigns, and other acts of peaceful protest. Please note, this is just the highlights of what is on the agenda for 3/12/2018 meeting. You can inform yourself about the rest of the agenda at the link provided above.
